Why Pick A Luxury Cruise For Your Honeymoon ...

Vacations often require extensive planning and complicated transportation and hotel arrangements to be made by travelers. If you are a newlywed though, the task of planning and executing a complicated travel plan may not seem like a great way to spend a honeymoon. Many people are now choosing to go on honeymoon cruises instead for this very reason.

The romantic nature of being on a boat at sea is certainly one of the most attractive aspects of taking a ship around the world. The seclusion offered by a private cabin on a vast open sea is another great feature of taking this option for your vacation. This seclusion can provide newlyweds with the peace and quiet they require in order to give their partners their utmost attention throughout the time they are together.

Today, most people must give their attention to a mind boggling assortment of topics to manage their work and personal lives. The hectic nature of modern life can make it difficult for most people to clear their minds and take time to relax. A cruise can help busy newlyweds take time to focus on the topics that matter most to them.

While out on the open sea, newlyweds can experience life together without distractions of any kind. Cruising newlyweds often find the process of clearing their minds to focus on that which matters most to them to be quite easy to do since there is little commotion to be found on cruises for adults. Also, the outstanding privacy of these floating resorts ensures no intrusions by friends and family will affect a newly wedded couple?s time together while at sea.

Of course, you can always create a traditional holiday by spending countless hours searching for the perfect hotel in the perfect location instead. If you were to do so though, you would miss out on the tremendous benefits only cruise lines can provide. For instance, all inclusive honeymoon packages revolving around a single hotel would not give you the chance to see a wide variety of popular cities in your favorite parts of the world.

As you travel around the world by ship, you will have the chance to see magnificent scenery from an impressive vantage point. Plus, you will be given plenty of time to go ashore in the most amazing cities you come across throughout your journey. Since passengers have every aspect of their travel plans taken care of for them, they can keep their complete focus upon each other and the fun activities available to them in every city they visit too.

The process of traveling in a traditional manner can put a strain on honeymooners. Most newlyweds simply want to have an enjoyable time throughout their vacations, but the realities of traveling can put a damper on anyone?s mood, especially when a mishap arises. If you choose to go by boat for your vacation though, you will be able to explore numerous beautiful landscapes while having all of your transportation needs managed by a professional and courteous staff experienced in making travel arrangements.

Since there is a tremendous amount of diversity to be found in the selection of all inclusive honeymoon packages available today, you will be able to easily find one that suits you. Whether you are interested in visiting a far off and exotic land, or you are interested in seeing some of the most popular destinations on the planet, the cruise line you choose to travel with can service your every need and provide you with the experience of a lifetime. With a full time staff by your side throughout the trip, you will certainly have an enjoyable time giving your partner and unbelievable scenery your undivided attention for days on end.

Business Travel Coalition BTC presentation to US DOT Advisory ...

Jun 28, 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Advisory Committee for Aviation Consumer
Protection (ACACP), established by the U.S. Congress and overseen by the Department of Transportation, has invited Business Travel Coalition (BTC) to participate in its initial meeting today to represent the interests of large corporate purchasers of commercial airline services. BTC will implore the committee to support the restoration of comparison-shopping for air travelers.

Points BTC will make.

. For nearly half-a-decade all consumers have been forced to purchase airline tickets without the complete information (base fares and ancillary fees) necessary to easily evaluate the full cost of air travel. Airline fees have been expanding in number and rising in cost. They have become time-consuming to research and virtually impossible to compare in combination with base airfares across airlines. In most cases, base airfares are defined differently among airlines, and thus, have become meaningless. Robust price competition when it comes to ancillary fees doesn't exist.

. Consumers are being denied the complete and accurate price
information needed to make informed decisions. Since 2008 airlines have refused to provide ancillary fee information to travel distribution participants such as travel agencies and websites that allow across-airline price comparisons. Consumers need real-time, comprehensive fee information that enables them to purchase the complete air travel product.

. Consumers trying to figure out their vacation budgets need to be
allowed to easily compare prices across airlines including baggage and seat reservation fees. This means that airlines must be required to release their prices, including those for ancillary services, through local community travel agents, online travel companies and other outlets where airlines choose to sell their tickets.

. With respect to large corporate purchasers of commercial air
transportation services, who largely underwrite the aviation system, the ancillary fee issue can be even more vexing. The mission of modern managed travel is to control costs through travel policy, sourcing strategies, efficient travel management company and travel department operations and the ability of travelers to choose travel options that best balance cost, productivity, convenience and safety for each given trip.

. It takes massive computing power for travel management companies
(TMCs) - that support corporate travel departments - to efficiently present relevant routing options for business travelers, let alone if ancillary services and associated fees were included. Combined fare and ancillary services prices are currently not automated and presented to travelers for
comparison-shopping purposes because airlines have ignored their best customers' demands to provide TMCs with ancillary fee data in a transparent and purchasable format.

. Corporate travel managers understand this and are frustrated over the many wholly avoidable problems caused by airlines denying them the automated and dynamic ancillary fee data necessary to run managed travel programs effectively and efficiently. A static list of services and fees on an airline website hardly represents transparency and offers little benefit
for travel programs, particularly when you consider that these fees may or may not apply to any individual traveler on an itinerary-by-itinerary basis.

. Consider that the fees may apply to some fares, but not to others according to an individual airline's fare rules. It may apply for some negotiated rates but not for others. Some travelers may receive ancillary services for free based on the charge card used or frequent flyer tier status; others may not. The list goes on and on and on.

. In order for there to be true transparency, ancillary services and fees need to be combined with airfares via this massive computing power so that fully priced, side-by-side comparative travel options can be presented for a traveler's consideration. Otherwise, fees remain, for all intents and purposes, completely obfuscated from the millions of disparate options that were once so efficiently comparison-shopped.

. True transparency requires that fees be purchasable during the same transaction with airfares. In this symbiotic relationship, there can be no real transparency without purchasability and no effective purchasability without automated and real-time transparent fee data.

. The consequences of this problem for corporate travel managers are significant and growing with each day that airlines refuse to provide their best customers with what they require for success within modern managed travel programs.

. Consider these negative impacts:

- budgeting and forecasting are rendered unreliable;

- shopping, purchasing and data collection processes for TMCs are more costly;

- clarity of total air travel spend is clouded;

- airline negotiations are made more arduous from the lack of comprehensive data;

- ineffective comparison-shopping reduces marketplace pricing discipline on fares and fees;

- financial, travel policy and audit controls are rendered less effective;

- traveler confusion and frustration are growing; and

- managed travel programs are being undermined.

The most significant problem with hidden airline fees is the erosion of the effectiveness and benefits of a professionally administered managed-travel program - in short an escalation in costs deriving from diminished control. After four years of airlines stonewalling their most financially important customers' demands for ancillary fee data, the only reasonable conclusion is that there is a market failure that apparently will only be remedied with U.S. Department of Transportation intervention.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Mourns the Loss ... - Cancer Kick

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ ??The Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) was deeply saddened to learn of the death of the supremely talented Nora Ephron, from acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Ephron had been battling myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), which then progressed to AML.

MDS is a group of diseases of the blood and bone marrow, with varying degrees of severity. Sometimes MDS can develop as a result of treatment for a different cancer. ?MDS is often a precursor to AML, a rapidly progressing blood cancer that results from acquired changes in the DNA of a developing marrow cell.

LLS is currently funding a Phase III trial for a promising new drug, rigorsertib (trade name Estybon?) being developed by Onconova Therapeutics Inc with support from LLS?s Therapy Acceleration Program. The drug inhibits multiple molecular processes critical in the growth and survival of cancer cells. Encouraging earlier stage trials showed disease reduction in MDS patients who did not benefit from other therapies, and reduced need for red blood cell transfusions. ?The goal of the Onconova project is to develop a treatment for MDS so the disease does not progress to AML. Both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Medicines Agency have recognized this drug could fill an unmet need for MDS patients.

?Our thoughts are with Ms. Ephron?s family,? said LLS President and CEO John Walter. ?LLS is relentless in its pursuit of new therapies to defeat these diseases.?

Madoff's brother to plead guilty to conspiracy

By Basil Katz and Jonathan Stempel, Reuters

Peter Madoff, the brother of Bernard Madoff and former chief compliance officer of the imprisoned swindler's firm, is expected to plead guilty to criminal charges of conspiracy and falsifying records, U.S. prosecutors said on Wednesday.

In a letter filed in Manhattan federal court, U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said Madoff is expected to enter his plea on Friday and agreed not to seek a sentence other than 10 years in prison.

Madoff also agreed to a criminal forfeiture of about $143.1 billion, including all real and personal property, the letter said.

John Wing, a lawyer for Madoff, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Peter Madoff would become the first member of Bernard Madoff's family to admit to criminal charges in connection with wrongdoing at the former Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, a case prosecutors unveiled in December 2008.

Prosecutors have not said whether criminal cases are also being prepared against Bernard Madoff's son Andrew, who was co-director of trading, or his niece Shana, who was a compliance officer at the firm.

Both are being sued by Irving Picard, the trustee seeking money for the Ponzi scheme's victims. He has filed a $255 million lawsuit against them and other Madoff family members.

Martin Flumenbaum, a lawyer for Andrew Madoff, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A lawyer for Shana Madoff could not immediately be identified.

Peter Madoff is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and mail fraud as well as making false statements about the firm's compliance program and investment advisory business.

A second charge accuses him of falsifying records of an investment adviser.

About one dozen people have now been implicated in criminal wrongdoing related to Bernard Madoff's former firm.

Five have pleaded not guilty: Annette Bongiorno, Daniel Bonventre, Joann Crupi, Jerome O'Hara and George Perez.

Frank DiPascali, the firm's former chief financial officer and often called Bernard Madoff's right-hand man, pleaded guilty in August 2009 and has been praised by prosecutors for his subsequent cooperation.

DiPascali has yet to be sentenced. His lawyer Marc Mukasey declined comment.

Picard has estimated that customers of the Madoff firm lost about $20 billion. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court let stand a lower court ruling on the trustee's methods for calculating losses. That decision could help Picard repay customers faster.

A spokeswoman for Picard did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Bernard Madoff, 74, is serving a 150-year prison sentence after pleading guilty in March 2009. He was ordered to forfeit $170.8 billion, more than twice the size of his estimated fraud.

ATHENS, Greece (AP) ? Can there be one day without bad news for the new Greek government?

Perhaps, but not Tuesday. The coalition government suffered another setback as a second Cabinet member quit in two days over what critics called a conflict of interest. The departure of Giorgos Venicos was hardly earthshattering ? he was the deputy at the merchant marine ministry ? but it was the latest in a litany of missteps and bad luck that have halted the government's ability to regain control of Greece's austerity program.

Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' new conservative-led government was sworn in last week, ending months of political deadlock. But in the last week alone it has suffered a string of casualties.

? The designated finance minister resigned Monday due to illness after being hospitalized the day he was to have been sworn in.

? Samaras himself is recovering at home from a serious eye operation and will be unable to attend a European Union leaders' summit later this week.

? The two health problems delayed a visit to Athens by international debt inspectors, which in turn delayed their report on Greek debt for EU leaders.

? The latest casualty, Vernicos, did not immediately give a reason for his departure Tuesday. But the main opposition Syriza party had accused him of maintaining an offshore company in what appeared to be a conflict of interest.

? On the positive side, prominent economist Yannis Stournaras was named as Greece's new finance minister Tuesday. Stournaras, 55, was involved in the country's negotiations to join the euro and was head of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research, a think tank and research body.

Shares on the Athens Stock Exchange rose on the news of his appointment, closing up 1.59 percent at 575.83.

Greece has been surviving on ?240 billion ($300 billion) in rescue loans from other EU countries and the International Monetary Fund since May 2010. Samaras' government has promised to push for a break from the harsh austerity measures demanded by creditors as Greece struggles through a fifth year of recession.

Samaras' office said he spoke on the telephone Tuesday with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and eurogroup head Jean-Claude Juncker, after talking on the phone with President Barack Obama.

Ben May, economist at Capital Economics, estimates Greece should have enough money to get it through the end of July. He expects some form of negotiations to take place this week on Greece's bailout terms, even if the prime minister can't be in Brussels in person.

May said the delay of the debt inspectors' visit to Athens "could be a problem" and will make debt negotiations all the more urgent.

"Time will be tight. They won't want to take negotiations to the wire," he said of Greek politicians.

Stournaras, the new finance minister, has publicly criticized Greece's avoidance of carrying out broader structural reforms to cut costs, arguing that successive tax hikes to try and improve public finances will ultimately fail.

"I do think we have the ability to get past this problem. But we must be realistic," Stournaras said about Greece's financial crisis. "We have a difficult road ahead of us, an uphill road ... but Greece is a country with great potential."

The salary cuts and tax increases that Greece has imposed have sent unemployment spiraling to above 22 percent.

Backed by conservatives, socialists and a small left-wing party, the new government has said it wants to lower some taxes, freeze public sector layoffs and extend by two years the mid-2014 deadline for the austerity measures.

European countries appear cool to the idea, however. Germany, the largest single contributor to the rescue loans, has insisted repeatedly that Athens stick to its commitments.

Many financial experts, however, think the current terms of Greece's bailout are not sustainable, and something needs to be done if Greece is going to be able to stay in the 17-nation eurozone.

Socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos said Greece remains committed to the EU and to the joint euro currency.

"The message is that we respect our institutional relationship with our partners," he said. "Greece will not take unilateral actions ... but is asking for an organized review of the (bailout) agreement."

Self improvement - Spirituality - Personal Growth: Do Less, Think ...

In a world crammed with information we are ironically compelled toward action and against thinking. Just to keep up with all the information we act without thinking.

Somehow we feel deceptively safe when we achieve all our deadlines, both those that are imposed on us and those we impose on ourselves. In this age of relative freedom there are a great deal more self-imposed deadlines.

Somehow we get stuck by our freedom.

Somehow we begin making decisions without thinking. And if we don't think, we have no chance of triggering thought for feeling. How do we feel about this?

Feeling is the greatest denominator for our state of existence.

Why on earth do we do the things we do? Is there a purpose, and is that purpose worthwhile? Are we compelled by purpose or are we just going through the motions?

The more time we take to adequately think, and therefore genuinely feel, the more meaning we can derive from the things we do and choose not to do. The things we do are, as a matter of introspection, checked for validity. None of us want to waste our lives, surely.

LESS IS ABUNDANTLY MORE

In a world throbbing with stuff, pretty stuff with frills and many attractive intonations, we still trust too much. We spend endless portions of time in front of computers, locked into our smart phones, collecting apps, followers, and information we may never use.

We have become hoarders against the sense of genuine need.

We are far better off rejecting ninety-eight percent of the thoughts that come into our minds about accumulation. We would be far better served to spend the time with which we rummage through the world, rummaging through our thoughts and feelings.

Only when we have done that can we know what we truly need and, therefore, want.

The skill of the new-age is critical discernment. That is, having the poise and self-discipline to say 'no' to most of the things that are simply there to distract us.

REMAINING FREE IS CONSERVING OUR LIMITED CONSCIOUSNESS

Thinking and feeling are precious. They are finite resources. When we spend our thinking and feeling on unimportant things, the important things get neglected.

If we wish to reclaim our spiritual freedom, becoming and staying more in touch with our emotional selves, and enjoying better portions of thinking capacity, we best learn to conserve our limited consciousness.

The more we learn to reject much of the world, as far as its stimuli is concerned, the more control we have over our thinking and feeling; to deploy these at the right times, in the right ways, within the important things of our lives.

Our world encourages us to do more but think and feel less. The spiritual life reverses this. We enjoy more peace, grace, and inner joy when we do less and think and feel more.

Kofi Annan Can Save Syria

To date, there has been nothing similar to the Contact Group plan that was hammered out in the summer of 1994 by representatives from Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States, and implemented the following year in Dayton, Ohio, after months of on-the-scene diplomacy. In Syria, the only diplomatic process is in the hands of the courageous, if beleaguered, former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who has understood?better than many analysts of this latest international outrage?that any lasting political settlement must not be a triumph of one side or the other.

Facebook has long betrayed you by forwarding your drunken wall ramblings in an email for posterity. Previously, though, the only way to limit further public shame was to try to delete the comment altogether. Now, it looks like the loose fingered have been given a reprieve, as the social giant is rolling out the ability to edit your ill-thought missives long after the fact. Even better, this seems to extend back to those written in the past. Don't think you can be sneaky though, as an "edited" link will appear below, letting everyone see the thread history. So even if you change your opinion, that indecision remains for all to see.

Adam Levine, Jessica Lange 'American Horror Story' Details Revealed

In 'AHS' season two, Lange is 'a bride of Christ,' writer tells MTV News.

While there have been scant details regarding the second season of "American Horror Story" floating around since it was announced it would be rebooted in a new time and place with spanking-new characters, what fans have been most clamoring to know about is how season one bad girl Jessica Lange will be re-imagined for the series.

"She's not playing this kind of ersatz Tennessee Williams character this time," "AHS" writer Tim Minear told MTV News about Lange in season two. "She's playing something that's a little more East Coast, a little more patrician."

While she was a bit of a darkly motivated, self-involved floozy in season one, her new backstory seems to paint a different picture for the character. "She's playing a nun," he said. "She's playing an administrator of a facility. It's different. In this instance, she's a bride of Christ."

Season one of the FX horror series took place in sunny Los Angeles, which served as the backdrop to Murder House and its disturbed inhabitants, both living and dead. But, season two will take place in the 1960s on the East Coast with a mental institution as the locale for all the creepiness. Lange will call the shots, which is sort of what she did in season one as well, but it seems she'll be motivated in a whole new set of ways.

"We thought it would be cool. I mean, the truth is, when I first met with [creators] Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk about the show, I came in, I read the pilot script, and I'm like, 'OK guys, this is all very well and good — I don't know how you make this into a TV show. I don't know how you sustain this,' " Minear recalled.

"And Ryan immediately had the answer, and that was, 'Oh, the way we sustain it is by the end of the season, we have killed off every character.' And I'm like, 'I'm in!' And then you revamp it. Basically, in season two, you have a whole new story, a whole new location, a whole new time frame. You just do something different," he added. "The reason we're doing it in the 1960s is because that fits the story that we want to tell."

Given that anything is possible in the "AHS" world, there's a chance that the infamous Murder House just might make a cameo. "I wouldn't rule anything out," Minear shared.

Sure, everyone has been salivating over details about Lange and her newly learned good-girl character, but there's another casting that has everyone intrigued: Maroon 5 leading man Adam Levine has been cast as one of "The Lovers." "Let's say that Adam's character is kind of a nod to contemporary sensibilities, as opposed to something from the mid-century," Minear noted.

Levine joins other returning castmembers Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe as well as Lange.

Levine and his bandmates will drop Overexposed on Tuesday. They will sit down with MTV News for an "MTV First" on Monday to discuss the new album, and perhaps Levine will share more details about his "AHS" role.

Don't miss the premiere of Maroon 5's "One More Night" video during "MTV First: Maroon 5" on Monday, June 25, at 7:53 p.m. on MTV, followed by a 30-minute Q&A with the band on MTV.com.

(AP) ? The leaders of Germany, France, Italy and Spain gathered in Rome on Friday to seek agreement on ways to pull Europe out of its crippling debt crisis.

Germany's Angela Merkel, Francois Hollande of France, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and host Mario Monti of Italy are getting together to push for consensus to give momentum to a crucial summit of European Union leaders in Brussels on June 28 and 29.

Monti has warned of severe consequences for the 17 countries that use the euro and the world economy if next week's summit fails.

"A large part of Europe would find itself having to continue to put up with very high interest rates, that would then impact on the states, and also indirectly on firms. This is the direct opposite of what is needed for economic growth," Monti said in an interview with five European newspapers published Friday.

Without a successful outcome at the summit "there will be progressively greater speculative attacks on individual countries, with harassment of the weaker countries."

Among the items on the agenda are a proposal by Monti to use Europe's emergency bailout fund to buy up countries' debt on the open market. This would bring down borrowing costs for countries like Spain and Italy. Other items to be discussed include plans to develop cross-border banking supervision and a possible tax on financial transactions, a government source said on condition of anonymity, because the issues are in flux.

The meeting caps an intense week for Europe, in which markets have been roiled on fears that the region's governments will not come up with adequate measures to fight the debt crisis and that Spain and Italy might soon need bailouts that the rest of the eurozone could not afford.

Borrowing costs for Spanish debt have skyrocketed after its government acknowledged that its banks would need a bailout. Monti, meanwhile, has insisted Italy, the eurozone's third-largest economy, needs no assistance of any kind. However markets are worried that should the Italian economy slow down any further, it would not be able to maintain its massive debt burden on its own.

Friday's meeting takes place amid worldwide fears that an economic crack-up in Europe could drag down the entire global economy. Europe is a substantial trading partner with the rest of the world. Any deep recession in Europe will be felt in the order books of other leading economies ? including the U.S.

The head of the International Monetary Fund warned Thursday night that the euro is under "acute stress" and urged leaders to consider measures including jointly issuing debt to alleviate the pressure on the region's debt-stricken members.

"We are clearly seeing additional tension and acute stress applying to both banks and sovereigns in the euro area," Christine Lagarde said at a meeting of finance ministers late Thursday.

Monti is positioning himself as a mediator between Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, who insists that countries need to maintain tight fiscal discipline to recover, and recently elected Hollande, who argues that measures to encourage growth should be used alongside austerity measures.

Merkel's government has agreed to press for the introduction of a financial transaction tax among at least nine countries in Europe ? a pledge that Germany's opposition extracted in exchange for its support in a parliamentary vote next week on her cherished budget-discipline pact.

It also has agreed to support investments to foster economic growth ? but those growth-promoting measures fall short of traditional stimulus spending, and Germany remains adamant that Europe can't finance growth by running up new debts or jointly issuing debt in the form of so-called "Eurobonds" to alleviate pressure on struggling countries.

Merkel's center-right government also has blocked opposition calls to accept a so-called European debt redemption fund, sticking to its vehement resistance to any form of pooling debt among eurozone countries.

Meanwhile Monti, for example, is not in favor of the tax, he may go along for concessions in other areas, the government source in Rome said.

The meeting was moved up by a few hours to give Merkel time to fly to Poland to watch Germany play Greece in a European Championship quarterfinal match. The game pits Europe's strongest economy, Germany, against the Eurozone's most troubled, Greece. The just-installed Greek leader had no immediate plans to attend.
